Dan Kuster  


​Dan has broad experience in higher education. That experience spanned financial and accounting management as well as modeling support for curriculum redesigns and due diligence support and negotiations with potential partners. He served as the Interim Chief Financial Officer at the Thunderbird School of Global Management while the school negotiated and closed a merger with Arizona State University. Dan then became the acting Chief Financial Officer at Arizona Christian University, stabilizing the Business Office after significant staff turnover while the Administration sought a partner.


Dan also has over 35 years and deep expertise in commercial banking and mortgage banking. Those assignments have included positions of financial and managerial leadership spanning organizations as small as 50 FTE to ones as large as 20,000 FTE. Throughout his career, Dan has leveraged his responsibilities as the senior financial manager to become a key member of the executive management team at the C level. Dan has often been recognized by peers and subordinates for his ability to interpret complex financial issues into straightforward concepts for employees at all levels to understand. He has held leadership responsibilities in finance and accounting, operations, program management, acquisitions and strategy development.

During his tenure at Bank One (now JP Morgan Chase), Dan held leadership assignments in Ohio, Michigan, Texas, and Arizona. He led a team that structured and closed an Auto Loan Conduit securitization and led a re-engineering team within the Retail Bank operations group to consolidate 213 payment lockboxes into a single processing site. While in Texas, Dan managed the merger and acquisitions team which successfully closed fourteen transactions within four years that doubled the distribution network.

During the collapse of the mortgage industry in 2008, Dan assisted the president of Irwin Home Equity in closing down the 750-employee company with no resultant employee litigation.

Dan has had consulting engagements with the Bank of the West, Proficio Mortgage Company, and Branch Home. Dan holds a BA in economics from Denison University in Granville, Ohio. He also graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking , sponsored by the American Bankers Association at Rutgers, the State University.
